A lot of shoppers have asked us, “Are hybrid cars high maintenance?” So we think it’s important that we go over the maintenance costs of a hybrid vehicle to help our shoppers get a better understanding of what hybrid car maintenance is like. Hybrid vehicles usually need oil changes every 5,000 to 7,000 miles, and in general hybrid car maintenance reliability is similar to a normal vehicle. The only exception is the replacement of a hybrid vehicle battery. Usually, many drivers say that their hybrid batteries last upwards of 200,000 miles or more. Here is some of the advice we like to give to our Casper shoppers:
Oil change costs are similar in a hybrid vehicle as they are in a conventional model and have the same intervals.
Hybrid vehicles have two types of batteries: a standard vehicle battery and a hybrid battery. A hybrid vehicle battery probably needs replacing in similar intervals to a standard vehicle battery and will cost the same. In the unlikely event that the Honda hybrid battery needs to be replaced, the costs could be a bit pricier. Usually, hybrid vehicles have warranty coverage for a minimum of 8 years or 100,000 miles, with some newer models having coverage for 10 years or 150,000 miles. This coverage is excellent and shows that Honda hybrid vehicles are engineered for longevity.
Tire replacements, lightbulbs, and other regular parts need to be replaced at their recommended service intervals. These are also similar to other traditional vehicles.
The maintenance isn’t much different from any other vehicle, but they have the added benefit of increased efficiency. Here are some other benefits of maintenance on a Honda hybrid vehicle are as follows:
